Witin the the 3rd Annual Meeting of EPIZONE, Crossing Borders, the Arbo-Zoonet Satelite Meeting took place.
The coordinator of the Arbo-Zoonet project, Michele Bouloy from Pasteur Institute, Paris, France, presented the concept, goals and different tasks of the project. These tasks are: Geographical and temporal risk assessment, capacities and proficiency in diagnostics and detection, surveillance, establishment of virulence standards, intervention strategies and knowledge dissemination and technology transfer. A poster was presented outlining the Arbo-Zoonet project.
Dr. Zati Vatansever from the Kafkas University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Karas, Turkey presented a general review on the CCHF situation worldwide focusing on the factors which play a major role in CCHF epidemiology.
Prof. Norbert Nowotny, Zoonoses and Emerging Infections Group, Clinical Virology, University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria, presented excellent data about West Nile virus infections in America and in Europe, focusing on recent developments in Europe.
Dr. Aysen Gargılı from Istanbul University/Viral Haemorrhagic Fever Study Group of Ministry of Health , Istanbul Branch, presented detailed data on the Turkish experience in Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever.
