In the frame of WP2 "Geographical and temporal risk assessment", of the EU project ARBO-ZOONET covering West Nile virus, Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic fever virus and Rift Valley fever virus a symposium was organized by WP2 leader Veronique Chevalier in Montpellier, France. The title of the symposium was "Dealing with WNV, RVFV and CCHFV Risk in Europe : Where are we (going)?"
The workshop consisted talks by invited speakers on the "Epidemiology of WNF in Europe", the" EDEM project", "An environmental approach of WNF in the EDEN project" and "Epidemiology, risk factors and prediction of RVF".
Selected scientific presentations dealed with CCHF, RVF and WNF in Europe. Paolo Calistri presented a talk on the "Use of GIS for risk assesment" and G. Balança talked on a "Ecological database for European birds".
In focus groups the current status of research, identification of gaps and perspectives of collaborations were discussed.
